The first National Youth Film Festival for schools, community groups and young people will take place from 21 October - 8 November 2013.

The festival is being run by a brand new organisation called FILM NATION UK, and is an exciting event that will see over 100 films being screened for free in cinemas across the UK.

Pupils aged 5-19 can arrange to come to cinemas with their teachers and be inspired to watch, understand and make film in new and creative ways. At some of the events, members of our BBFC Education team will also give a talk about how and why a film was rated at a particular category. Films to be screened include:

  • Despicable Me 2 (U)
  • Hotel Transylvania (U)
  • Pitch Perfect (12A)
  • The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists! (U)

FILM NATION UK also runs competitions with amazing prizes, broadcasts webcasts to schools, and trains young people as film journalists to report from events like film premieres.

You can see our Head of Education talking to some Film Club reporters here.
