LINCOLN is a drama set in 1865 during the final months of the American Civil War, about Abraham Lincoln's struggle to end slavery in the face of intense political opposition.

Violence

The film contains images of violence in the context of battle, including a stabbing to the chest, repeated blows to a soldier with the butt of a rifle, bayoneting of soldiers, and a brief scene of a soldier's face being pushed into muddy water by another soldier's foot, in an attempt to drown him. The shot ends before the soldier is seen to die. These images are brief and the battle scene itself is not prolonged. In another scene the President rides through a battlefield and witnesses the results of the violence, with several dead soldiers seen. One of the bodies has a stomach wound, but there is otherwise little focus on injury. During a visit to an army hospital there are shots of the bandaged stumps of wounded soldiers and sight of amputated limbs, and there is also brief sight of a dead man with bloodied bedsheets.

Language

There are two uses of strong language.

The film also contains racist language and references presented to show historical debate. The focus of the film is on the fight for equality and on those who fought to abolish slavery. There is also some mild and moderate bad language. More information about the issues in this film is available for grown-ups on the main BBFC website and the free BBFC app.

THE GOOD DINOSAUR is an animated adventure about a dinosaur who finds himself lost in the wilderness, and must face his fears in order to find his way back home.

Threat

Frequent scenes of threat include characters falling into rushing rivers with the threat of drowning; one character is trapped in the water as the river rises and a giant wave overwhelms him. Strong storms and hungry animals threaten the heroes, and present physical and emotional challenges they must overcome.

Violence

Mild violence includes villainous animals snapping at and biting other animals and a young boy as they hunt for food and torment their prey. Sight of scratches from accidents and fights are licked to help them heal and there is a reference to a T. Rex having drowned his opponent in his own blood, but we see nothing.

The death of a parent lacks detail, and the theme of loss of a loved one is treated discreetly and tenderly.

Two characters eat some berries that change their behaviour and there is an implied but unfinished use of mild bad language. More details about these issues are available for grown-ups on the main BBFC website and free BBFC app.
