DESPICABLE ME 2 is an animation sequel in which the central character from the first film is engaged by an international agency to track down and defeat a new threat to humanity.

Threat

The scary scenes mostly involve the principal character, who has developed a toxin that turns people and creatures into ferocious monsters. For the most part it is used on his small yellow minions, who turn purple and snarl and bark threateningly. Near the end of the film, the toxin is used on a human who is transformed into an enormous and extremely dangerous looking monster with wild hair and huge teeth. Although the creature creates some sense of menace and threat, the hero soon intervenes and there is a quick resolution to the danger. Other scenes of violence, earlier in the film, have a strong element of slapstick, such as when the hero is struck by a car. He is not injured and the scene is very much played for comic effect.

Imitable Behaviour

The film also has some focus on weaponry but it is all fantastical in nature rather than realistic. The heroine, Lucy, has a small pen that acts like a Tazer, while the hero's gun is used only for firing jam at the minions in order to neutralise the toxin.
