Lightyear is a new origin story about the character Buzz Lightyear who Andy is obsessed with and owns a toy of in the Toy Story films. If this concept is a bit mind-boggling, don’t worry! 

Things have been getting rather ‘meta’ in movies for a while now, and all it means is that a film is referencing itself, often in a funny way. Think of films like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse or The Lego Movie. Even if you’ve never seen a Toy Story film it doesn’t matter at all - there’s still plenty to enjoy in the trailer.
